Art on Books / Books of Art is a look at “books” as an Artform. This exhibit showcases a collection of artist groups in the Portage/Kalamazoo, Michigan area and represents the work of many different artists who draw on the idea of Books for their inspiration in these pieces.

The work shows a variety of mediums from traditional book-binding and paper-making, through new technology to produce digital or books-on-demand. Displayed are: artistic journals which are a source of self expression and exploration, collaborative projects such as “Chunky Books”, Round Robins, and Altered Books where the artwork is created on an actual book by either additive or subtractive methods.

It Is our hope that this cross-section of artwork sparks you to explore what you can envision within a Book.
